For a self-professed geek who spends his alone time reading and writing, Eric, at only 25, has achieved such phenomenal progress in his career that he featured in The Straits Times as Singapore’s 25 Top Alternate Achievers (2006). His achievements have also been tracked by regional media including Business Times, Lianhe Zaobao and News Radio 93.8. His latest contribution to society is the International Selling ‘FAQ Book on Public Speaking’, pulling together and collaborating with some of the regional star speakers to bring the public speaking domain to a whole new platform.
Eric has earned much respect and recognition not only from his peers and clients, but from his seniors as well. This was fuelled by his raise through the ranks to emerge champion in several regional speech competitions, including the Toastmasters Humorous Contest (Division), United States, 2005 and the International Speech Contest (Division), Singapore, 2007.
Known to be energetic, inspiring and charismatic, it is no wonder Eric shines in the area of Personal Branding, Public Speaking and Performance. His coaching style is fun and light, working with his clients through to their goals, and more, with much zest and enthusiasm. His power of influence stems from one simple factor – he is a living example of how life can be lived to the fullest – and it shows.
“What made you take up coaching – and eventually, become a coach yourself?”
I was 22 when I first stumbled into a coaching preview led by Executive Coach International Pte Ltd. Back then, I was ambitious but lost. I was busy trying to be a lot of things to a lot of people so much so that I forgot what I really wanted for myself.
The final push that led me to take up the coaching program was my desperation. I wanted answers and I wanted them fast. Kelvin, the head coach, was relentless and tough but I saw his commitment to all of us. For example, have you ever met a trainer who will stay up to 5 in the morning just to make sure you got what you need to get? Kelvin did. In fact, I was ashamed to find out that he was even more committed about my life than myself!
The experience itself has been humbling and magical in many ways. I was reunited with myself and it felt so much like a love story of the 20th century! I found back my passion and I began to do the things that really matter. And guess what, I began to taste success!
My relationship with my parents improved tremendously so much so that we became friends! And here’s the best part – I fell in love with life itself! I was full of joy and excitement regardless of the circumstances that was thrown at me.
And when you have gotten to where I was back then, the only possible question to ask is “How can I help others get what I got?”
That’s when I made a powerful choice to be a coach and I have never looked back since.”
